Complete Bandits in Halen and Bandits in the Woods, then do Nori Training at level 5 for one-time stat improvements and double jump. Continue through Skull Warriors and Forest Boars, add broom balance training, and follow the quest route toward Rayen. If you have Crystal Mana, each grimoire roll costs 1 at Grimoire Spire. Spend points toward useful skills while keeping enough health for combat. Cloverlines' maximum level is 250.
Cloverlines Beginner Guide: Early Quests and Training
Last updated:
Start with Halen's enemy quests, then add training and new skills as you level. Double jump and a flying broom are useful early goals alongside your grimoire and combat stats.
Start Fighting and Get Your First Grimoire
If you have Crystal Mana, visit Grimoire Spire to get a grimoire:
- Enter the tower and take the stairs to the raised central platform.
- Approach Grimoire Roll and press E at the Read prompt.
- Spend 1 Crystal Mana per roll.
Start questing with your available combat options; chasing a particular rare grimoire does not need to come before your early levels. For probabilities and guarantee counters, see the grimoire rolling guide.
Use M1 / left click for basic attacks and the keys displayed beside your unlocked skills to activate abilities. Follow each skill's prompt, including any instruction to hold a key. For example, Necromancer's Grave Legion uses Z, while Necro Orbs uses X; your own skill bar determines which attacks those keys activate.
Accept an enemy quest before fighting its targets. Follow the quest arrows and check the objective counter as you defeat enemies so you can tell when the task is complete.
Add Training to Your Early Quest Route
Work through these early stops in order, fitting Nori Training in as soon as you reach level 5:
- Bandits in Halen: defeat 3 Potato bandits.
- Bandits in the Woods: defeat 4 camp bandits in the forest.
- Nori Training at level 5: speak to the bird at the Titan remains. During the sit-ups and jumping jacks, press Space when the marker reaches the green zone. Completion improves your base stats and unlocks double jump. You can repeat the exercises, but their rewards are awarded only once.
- Skull Warriors: speak to Quarry Warden Greta, whose quest marker is level 7, and defeat 5 Skull Warriors at the quarry on the forest's edge.
- Forest Boars: speak to Farmer in Halen Village, whose marker is level 10, and defeat 6 boars in the forest.
- Broom balance training: visit the training NPC outside the village. Hold A or D as needed to correct your tilt and stay balanced until the lesson ends. Completing it awards a Medium Magic Broom for flying travel.
Questing to about level 11 is a useful preparation target before the broom lesson. Level 12 is an example of when to fit it into this route, rather than a stated minimum requirement.
Prioritize Nori's permanent improvements over repeating its exercises for experience. Then use enemy quests to keep leveling and the broom lesson to add mobility. See training and broom controls for the full training and flight instructions.
Continue from Road to the Tower to Rayen
After the opening quests and training, continue through the following milestones. The numbered levels here—and the level 7 and 10 markers above—are quest-marker labels, not a statement that every quest has a strict acceptance requirement at that level.
- Road to the Tower — level 15 marker: find Scout Rowan and defeat the 6 enemies along the road. Follow the tracker into the forest.
- Earth Bandits: clear 4 Earth Bandits from Halen's roads.
- Caravan Raid: speak to Caravan Master Hugo, then defeat 7 bandits around the caravan.
- Forest Wolves: defeat 7 wolves in the quest area. Wait for more to appear if you still need kills.
- Rayen Outlaws — level 40 marker: find the quest near Officer Vera and defeat 6 outlaws in the village.
- Armed Delinquents — level 45 marker: find the quest marker near Little Zena, then follow the arrows and defeat 5 gun-carrying enemies. If the area is empty, wait for targets to appear.
Repeat suitable quests between milestones when you need more experience. Forest Boars, Earth Bandits, Rayen Outlaws, and Armed Delinquents can be taken again after completion. The quest directory lists individual objectives and rewards.
Optional boss branches
- After Road to the Tower: take Warden Cole's level 20 Chain Bandit quest to defeat 1 Chain Bandit. You can accept it again after completing it.
- After Earth Bandits: add The Earth Bandit Boss quest before moving to Caravan Raid if you want a boss challenge.
- Around Forest Wolves: take The Mana Wolf quest separately. Its target is 1 Mana Wolf; ordinary wolves do not fulfill that boss objective.
- Around Armed Delinquents: take the Little Zena boss quest to defeat the Rayen gang leader once. This is separate from defeating the ordinary Armed Delinquents.
Choose these branches when you want to add boss fights to your questing. Use the boss guide for encounter details and drops.
Spend Points and Keep Quests Moving
Open M → Profile → Stats to spend your available points. Choose the next skill you want, then allocate toward its required stat instead of spreading points without a combat goal.
For early Null progression, prioritize Strength for skill access while reserving points for health. 45 Strength is a useful milestone for Dual Spin, activated by holding Z. Keeping some points in health gives you more room to survive while learning fights. See combat stats and skill unlocks for the general system and the Null guide for that grimoire's progression.
Keep the quest loop moving:
- Approach the quest NPC, press E, and choose Accept when offered.
- Enable Quest Tracker and follow its ground arrows and target markers.
- Defeat the named enemies until the objective counter is complete.
- If an interaction says Finish Current Quest, finish your active objective before trying to take the next task.
- Return to the giver and accept a repeatable quest again if you want another run.
If basic left-click kills fail to increase the counter—particularly during Skull Warriors or Forest Boars—first check that you have the correct quest active and are fighting its specified targets. Then try finishing a target with a character ability and watch the counter. Use this workaround when basic attacks fail to register; abilities are not a universal requirement for quest credit.
Level Cap and Your Next Goals
The maximum character level in Cloverlines is 250. As you move beyond the early quest milestones, choose a concrete goal alongside gaining levels:
- Develop your grimoire: compare grimoire abilities and forms and follow the guide for the magic you use.
- Take on bosses: choose an encounter from the boss directory for its quest or drops.
- Work toward equipment: use equipment sources and equip instructions to identify an item and the enemy or activity that supplies it.
A skill unlock, a useful piece of equipment, or a new boss challenge gives your next stretch of questing a clear purpose.
