Cloverlines Grimoires: Rarities, Abilities and Forms

Last updated:

Find your grimoire's rarity, learn its controls, and choose a combat style or transformation to work toward. Grimoire Spire lists 15 grimoires across seven rarities.

Choose Null for sword attacks and multiple combat forms, Battle Lightning for claws, rushes and counters, or Shadow for summons and Gallus flight. Crimson, formerly Witch Queen's Grimoire, uses Crimson Heart to awaken its passive in Halloween Update Part I. Necromancer's Skull Warriors skill setup includes Z for Grave Legion and X for Necro Orbs.

Grimoires by Rarity

Grimoire Spire's 15 grimoires span Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic and Secret. Match your grimoire's rarity to its category on the tower's TOWER CHANCES panel.

Crimson is the renamed Witch Queen's Grimoire. Thunder and Battle Lightning are separate grimoires, as are Ice and Snow. Search either Crimson or its former name to find the same entry.

Shadow Summons, Transformations and Flight

Shadow combines two named summons with Felis and Gallus transformations. With Shadow equipped, use these PC controls from the normal skill bar:

Key Ability
E Summon Cat: Plumette
R Summon Rooster: Cinderspur
Z Transform: Felis
X Transform: Gallus
N Shadow Field

How to fly with Gallus

  1. Press X from Shadow's normal skill bar to transform into Gallus.
  2. Press E for Wing Flight.
  3. While flying, press E again when the prompt reads Land.

Gallus also provides Scout Vision and Raven Dive, with a separate Gallus status bar. The E key changes with your form: it summons Plumette on the normal bar and controls flight or landing in Gallus.

Gallus form in Witchwood Forest with the E Land prompt and Gallus status bar.

Crimson's Passive Item and Necromancer's Skills

Crimson's passive awakening

In Halloween Update Part I (v0.16.18), Crimson Heart awakens Crimson Grimoire's passive. Witch Regent can drop this rare item, so defeating the boss gives you a chance to obtain it. Follow the Ceryn Fragments and Witch Regent route for the summoning chain.

Necromancer controls

In the Necromancer skill setup used against Skull Warriors, press Z for Grave Legion and X for Necro Orbs.

Choose a Combat Style and Awakening Goal

  • Choose Null for sword combat and multiple forms. Its Anti-Magic kit offers a base sword moveset, a first awakening and Devil Union. It is a good fit if you want to develop one grimoire through different combat kits.
  • Choose Battle Lightning for close-range mobility and counters. Claw M1 attacks, a target-directed rush and Thunder Execution support an aggressive melee style. Its awakening adds movement speed and replaces the moveset.
  • Choose Shadow for summons and transformation utility. Plumette and Cinderspur give it a summon-focused identity, while Gallus adds flight for travel.

Awakening controls and conditions

Form Setup or condition PC activation
Null's first awakening Equip Null and wait until Awakening is available Tap G
Null's Devil Union Relaunch-version setup: Null equipped with Demonkin, with the Devil Union prompt available Hold G
Battle Lightning Awakening Elf race, Battle Lightning equipped and a full awakening gauge Press G

Awakening replaces your active moveset, so use the new skill bar after transforming. Devil Union has a separate form gauge that decreases over time; watch it during combat.

Use the Null progression guide for sword skills and the first awakening, the Devil Union guide for its relaunch setup and moveset, or the Battle Lightning guide for skills, Overvolt and awakening. If your goal involves a race change, see races and character rerolls.

Rolling and Combat Guides

Obtain grimoires through Grimoire Roll at Grimoire Spire. Each attempt costs 1 Crystal Mana and can yield a grimoire; it does not guarantee the specific book you want. Use the grimoire rolling guide for the location, rolling controls, rarity chances and pity budgets.

For a choice focused on progression and bosses, compare Null versus Battle Lightning for PvE. That comparison weighs their combat tools and acquisition rarity. For Crimson's passive material, follow the Witch Regent and Crimson Heart route.
