Cloverlines Combat Controls, Stats and Skill Unlocks

Last updated:

Learn the keyboard controls for fighting in Cloverlines, where to spend stat points, and how to recognize a skill or form requirement.

Use M1 or left click for basic attacks, press the key shown beside a skill, and hold it when prompted. Allocate points through M → Profile → Stats to unlock some moves. Other skills require a particular form or setup, and player skills are disabled in safe zones.

Basic Attacks, Skill Keys and Hold Actions

On PC, use M1 (left click) for basic attacks. For a grimoire skill, press the key beside it in your current skill list. If the label says Hold, keep the indicated key pressed; for example, Null's Dual Spin uses hold Z.

Bindings and moves depend on your grimoire and active form. Null's Counter and Battle Lightning's Thunder Execution are specific counter skills, both assigned to X in their base movesets.

During the Chain Bandit encounter, a Dodge: E prompt can appear. Follow that prompt for the encounter; it does not establish E as a universal dodge key.

Allocate Points in Profile

When you have stat points available:

  1. Press M and open Profile.
  2. Select Stats in the sidebar.
  3. Allocate points toward the requirement of a skill you want, then check your skill list.

For early Null progression, prioritize the Strength needed for the next desired skill and put remaining points into Health for survival. See the Null guide for its specific stat priorities and moves.

Stat Unlocks and Form-Specific Skills

Some moves become available after you allocate stats. With Null equipped, raise Strength to at least 45 to unlock Dual Spin, then hold Z to use it. Rush Cleave also becomes available after stat allocation during early Null progression and uses R.

Other moves belong to a different form. Awakening replaces your active skill list, so check the displayed bindings after transforming. Form eligibility depends on the grimoire:

  • Null: Press G for the first awakening when available. When the Devil Union prompt is available, hold G for Devil Union. Its form meter decreases over time. See the Devil Union guide for its setup and moves.
  • Battle Lightning: With Battle Lightning equipped, an Elf character can press G when the awakening gauge is full. See the Battle Lightning guide for its awakened skills.

When Skills Cannot Be Used

If a skill is unavailable, check these conditions:

  • Safe zone: Player skills and PvP are disabled inside the Halen Village and Grimoire Spire safe zones. Leave the safe zone to use combat skills.
  • Skill and form: Equip the relevant grimoire, meet the skill's stat requirement, and check whether the move belongs to your current form.
  • Input: Use the key shown in the current skill list and hold it if the move says Hold.
  • Move prerequisite: Battle Lightning's Overvolt requires Thunderlord's Beacon first: press T for Beacon, then C for Overvolt. The Battle Lightning guide covers the rest of its moveset.
